The Seal Beach International Friendship Association recently awarded the 2016 June Roughton Hopkins Memorial Scholarship of $1,500 each to two Los Alamitos High School seniors who graduated in June.
Renee Kimberlin Congdon of College Park East in Seal Beach will be attending Colgate University in upstate New York, majoring in International Relations and Psychology.

Renee Kimberlin Congdon of College Park East in Seal Beach will be attending Colgate University in upstate New York, majoring in International Relations and Psychology.
She is fluent in Spanish, proficient in American Sign Language and speaks Swahili, learned for her volunteer work in Tanzania during the summer of 2015. Her academic record is outstanding and her list of school and community service is long.
She also participated in Varsity Tennis for 4 years.
Josie Lynn Pearce of Rossmoor will be attending Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, majoring in Government and International Relations.
She spent time in Costa Rica as a volunteer in the summer of 2015 and is fluent in Spanish.
In addition to her long list of accomplishments in school and community service and excellent academic record, she is the spokesperson for the Lupus Foundation of American and can be seen in a PSA on CNN.
