Troop 2284 was interested in helping the underprivileged motel children in their community who lacked hot nutritious meals.
The girls took an active role in helping bring awareness to this problem by partnering with the Caterina’s Club Organization and the Boys & Girls Club to provide hot pasta meals for children.
They created a plan of action that included an education awareness campaign and pasta drive at Hopkinson Elementary School, an individual home collection drive, and a “Popsicles for Donation” event after school, which raised over $100 to purchase incremental food donations for the Caterina’s Club.
Troop 2284’s efforts collected a total of over 500 jars of spaghetti sauce and packages of pasta to donate to Caterina’s Club. This was enough food to prepare over 1600 hot meals at local Boys & Girls Clubs for underprivileged motel children.  The Troops’ pasta drive donation was valued at over $1000.00.
Lastly, Troop 2284 volunteered at the Long Beach Boys & Girls Club.  The Troop spent the afternoon working with the Program Director and volunteers setting up, preparing, and serving hot nutritious pasta meals to underprivileged community children.
