The Summer Day Camp offers kids ages 5 to 12 years old an action-packed and affordable way to spend their time in both on-site activities at Rossmoor Park and at optionaloff-site field trips.
Supported by businesses and the community, the Youth Center is seeking to keep kids in constant motion this summer with their Summer Day Camp, Teen Camp, Summer Music Program, and Leadership Academy.
The Summer Day Camp offers kids ages 5 to 12 years old an action-packed and affordable way to spend their time in both on-site activities at Rossmoor Park and at optionaloff-site field trips.
The camp offers booking for individual days or a week at a time, with optional field trips that, “Fill up fast!” according to Youth Center Program and Operations Manager Julie Rubin.
She says they always looking to make the camper experience fresh and shared, “Based on campers’ experiences and parent preferences, we’ve listened and blended a program withfavorites and new field trips and activities. What’s also wonderful is that we have a number of businesses and community members that have contributed towards scholarships for our Summer Programs for those in need.”
A second Youth Center program offered this summer is their all-inclusive Teen Camp, designed with discerning teens ages 12-16 in mind. Pre-planned field trips include Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knott’s Soak City, Catalina Island, and Laser Quest to name just a few places. Additional daily excursions and activities are designed by the teens with the guidance of the Teen Camp Director.
They can choose over 25 activities and venues around town such as kayaking or go-cart racing. The camp is limited to 20 participants per week and also fills up fast.
Want to learn or enhance you or your child’s musical skills? The Youth Center’s Summer Music program offers elementary students and their parents with an opportunity to fine-tune their existing music skills or to learn a new instrument. Five classes for just $59 are offered this summer in any one of four programs which include lessons for band, strings, guitar or keyboard. Parents can experience learning a musical instrument by joining their child in class for just $20.
Leadership and life skills will be taught this summer at The Youth Center’s 3rd Annual Leadership Academy.
Top educators, business professionals and speakers will be presenting materials in various workshops where high school students and graduates can learn how to handle real world challenges to prepare them for the next stages in life. The Academy is offered at The Youth Center from June 27-30 from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.Among many topics, participants will learn from professionals how to set goals, write a resume, handle an interview, manage money, life skills (cooking, cleaning, eating wisely), teamwork, and even how to start their own business. Graduates walk away with a certificate of completion, written goals, letter of recommendation, resume, bank account (upon parent approval), a professional photo, a mentor and peer to peer friendships.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Better Lives Foundation, 25 applicants will be selected to attend and the usual course fee of $299 will be waived.
