The sustainability of our community businesses remains a priority and the City of Los Alamitos is dedicated to assisting businesses during these unprecedented times.
Commencing on August 3, 2020 through August 10, 2020, the City of Los Alamitos will be accepting applications from small businesses interested in Phase II of the Emergency Relief Small Business Grant Program, which will award grants to eligible businesses for $5,000. The eligibility criteria is defined as the following:
• The business must be a for-profit business and physically located in Los Alamitos;
• The business must be located in a commercial/industrial space or has a leased space;
• The business must have an active Los Alamitos business license for a minimum of three (3) months;
• The business must have at least one (1) employee (employee can be the owner – for example, hair stylists and real estate agents), but no more than 25 employees (full or part-time);
• The business must be in good standing with the City (current on bills, no liens or judgements, etc.), unless directly correlated to COVID-19 impacts;
• Any business that has received funding such as the Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loans, or Paycheck Protection Program loans, must certify the amount of funding received. Priority assistance will be given to those businesses that did not receive above 5% of their gross revenue from 2019. Applications received exceeding that threshold, will be prioritized in the following order:
• Group 1: Businesses that received less than 5% of Federal Disaster Funding
• Group 2: Businesses that received less than 15% of Federal Disaster Funding
• Group 3: Businesses that received less than 25% of Federal Disaster Funding
• Group 4: All other businesses
• The business must submit the application, and all required supporting documentation;
• The business applicant must provide proof of financial hardship causing business interruption due to COVID-19 in one of the following ways:
• The business has been deemed non-essential and has forced to shut down by the state or local government;
• Letter stating that sales from the business are down more than 25% compared to the previous three months (prior to February 15, 2020);
• The business has had to lay off at least one of its employees (full- or part-time employee); or
• One or more of the employees in the business have contracted COVID-19, while at work.
