There was an overflow crowd at Mr. B’s Sports Grill in Los Alamitos, who came to see a new KW Idol champion crowned,  and were rocked by 11-year-old Alexis Luyben, to help raise money for charity.

The 5th annual KW Idol contest was hosted by Keller Williams Realty of Los Alamitos, and it was standing room only as the faux Idol competition began.

Vocalists from the community and local area Keller Williams Realty offices took turns singing their hearts out trying to raise the most cash to help KW Cares, a non-profit charity.

Alexis Luyben, a Los Alamitos resident, was the biggest crowd pleaser of the night. She sang  “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus, having the packed restaurant on its feet.

Luyben and her father, Delight Sittman, saw the KW Idol event advertised  in the local newspaper, and she asked her father if it was okay for her to sing at the event. Sittman said it was no problem, and that anyone was welcome to participate.

Luyben, who raised the most cash by an individual singer with $260, was also third in the judge’s voting.

“Lexie did a marvelous job,” said Sittman. “It was amazing to see such poise from someone so young. She is a very talented young lady.”

KW Los Alamitos regained the crown they lost at the previous event, beating KW Coastal Properties in Long Beach. It was the fourth time that KW Los Al has won the competition.

KW Long Beach didn’t go home empty handed. Ron Shore,  the team leader at KW Coastal Properties, was the top singer in the judge’s vote with his version of “That’s Life”.

“We had a fantastic turnout again,” said Drake Cruz, event coordinator. “I couldn’t believe how crowded the restaurant was. All I could see were people everywhere, with support from the local community, and the area’s Keller Williams offices making this event a success once again.”

“Keller Williams Realty is involved with the local community and works with charitable projects,” said Cruz. “KW Idol is just another way to raise funds to help.”

“I am so glad the community showed up and supported the agents singing on stage,” added Cruz. “It’s a great cause and a great way for families to hang together and have a good time.”

Keller Williams Realty Los Alamitos has been active in helping the local community in a variety of ways. Besides the yearly shredding event, they also collect food for Second Harvest Food Bank, and collect items for Toys for Tots, just to name a few.
