Youth Center camps offer a summer-long party for kids

Whether working or not, many parents seek summer activities for their youngsters which are interesting, enjoyable, build self-esteem and help them make friends.  The Youth Center Rossmoor Park camp is not designed to merely keep kids busy, but instead to positively impact youngsters’ personal and social development.

Summer camp enrollments have increased nationally by 8 to 10 percent for the past few years, as parents have sought positive, safe environments for youngsters where they can enjoy themselves while experiencing varied recreational and growth activities.

The Youth Center’s Rossmoor Park Summer Day Camp includes arts and crafts, board games, organized sports, carom boards, playground time, sandcastle contests, reptile parties, magic shows, Wet & Wild Fridays, wheels days, talent shows, cake & toy walks, watermelon contests, potluck days and more.

“We’ve packed enough activities, sports and entertainment into ten weeks to assure every day is over-the-top. Our diverse affordable program combines the structure of recreational day camp with the excitement and adventure of enriching field trips, multi-cultural games, swimming, special events and more. Not only will your child have fun, but they will be learning, too,” said Katrina Cherney, Youth Center Office Manager.

One day each week camp counselors will focus on a specific country and its culture. Children will learn international dances from 10 different countries that are fun and unique!

And talk about flexible! Add as many or as few field trips as you like. This summer campers would have an opportunity to go to Sky High, Wild Rivers, Disneyland, Ice-Skating, Knott’s Berry Farm, O.C. Fair, Boomers, Angels’ Baseball Game, and more.

Choose from basic program hours or extend the fun even longer. Whether the kids are wrapped up in Blongo Ball, dancing the day away or slippin’ and slidin’ in the sun, they’ll be a part of the coolest camp in town! The Youth Center is an independent, non-profit organization serving the youth and families of Los Alamitos, Rossmoor, Seal Beach and surrounding communities since 1952.  The Rossmoor Park Summer Day Camp is collaboration between the Youth Center and the Rossmoor Community Services District.

“Without RCSD the Youth Center would not be able to provide top quality summer camp for local kids and offer scholarships to families in need. We are grateful to work with outstanding staff from RCSD every summer”, said Lina Lumme, Youth Center Executive Director.
