Star Helicopters will once again be offering helicopter rides at the Wings, Wheels, Rotors & Expo 2013 to be held at the Joint Forces Training Base on Oct. 27.
In addition to a standard ride in either a Bell Jet Ranger or a Robinson R44 helicopter, Star offers a hands-on helicopter intro flight in an R22 helicopter. The intro flight includes a safety briefing on the ground and then a 20-minute flight with an experienced instructor. You’ll can take the controls and learn firsthand how these wonderful machines fly. The number of intro flights is limited — call and pre-purchase your flight before they are all gone.
Star Helicopters is known for its helicopter flight school and comprehensive tours of the Los Angeles area — a great way to see the town and a treat for out-of-town visitors, such as family and friends. Even if you’ve lived in California your entire life, you will enjoy an LA helicopter tour for yourself.
When you consider how spread out the Los Angeles area is, it can take days to drive all over the area. No wonder you’ve never taken the time to view things such as Santa
Monica pier and the Hollywood sign. With a helicopter ride around Los Angeles, you can see the highlights of the city in less than an hour. Star Helicopters for hire allow you to take advantage of their aerial services for anything you need to do that requires flight time or an aerial view. Many people work with Star Helicopters for aerial photography, scouting out agricultural properties and plane spotting. This fascinating hobby gets even better, when you can view the airplanes from above. With Star Helicopters close proximity to LAX, you can fly over the top of the runways while planes take off and land.
Flight training with Star Helicopters offers school courses towards a range of certifications and proficiencies flying a range of crafts. Primary flight training builds basic skills. Instrument training teaches how to fly a helicopter based solely on instrument readings, so that you can fly in adverse weather conditions. Both programs are taught in the slightly larger Robinson R-22 helicopter, while the Robinson R-44 is used for more advanced training and transition training.

Young Eagles to Fly Teens for Free at WWRE 2013
Young people will get an opportunity to fly at Wings Wheels & Rotors Expo on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Los Alamitos Army Airfield on the Joint Forces Training Base. Flights are sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association(EAA). Two local chapters will provide pilots and airplanes to take kids on flights during the event.
The EAA Young Eagles were launched in 1992 to give interested young people, ages 8-17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These are Cessna’s and other light aircraft. All participants must have parental approval and everyone will need a signed authorization to fly. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.
Flights will last around 15-20 minutes. Youngsters will be briefed by the pilots, shown around the aircraft, helped in buckling seat belts and described the airplane and other details. The pilots will be happy to tell more about flying and their particular airplane. Everyone will receive an official Young Eagles logbook, which will be signed by the pilot.
This is a great offer, especially for those interested in aviation or flying. It is a great introduction to the exciting world of aviation while at the same time attending a great outdoor event. For additional details about the Young Eagles, see their website at www.YoungEagles.org.
WWRE is sponsored by the Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce and the California
