Dear Editor:
I am an amateur arborist, and I would love to know if there are any other arborists in our community that appreciate and loves trees as much as I do? If you are indeed out there can you explain why we continue to practice the topping of trees which is so harmful to the tree, or thin them to the point where there is little tree left? Or they cut the branches up so high they look like palm trees?
Trees are essential to life. We all know their value. I can’t go to the Rossmoor shopping center right now because once again the trees are topped/butchered so there is no value, no aesthetics, no shade, no filtering of air, no keeping the temps down, no oxygen release, and capturing less carbon dioxide.
Did I leave anything out community? Do we do this to save on pruning expenses? If there is anyone that can ease my sadness? Please comment and enlighten me on why we now have such little regard for something so special and life essential. One more bit of information, Seal Beach does not TOP trees and they have an arborist on staff.
