The Weaver Elementary School Ambassadors celebrated on Tuesday the culmination of the Big Red Bucket, a holiday food drive in support of two important local organizations: The Long Beach Rescue Mission and We CARE, located in Los Alamitos.
The Weaver Ambassadors, a leadership program at Weaver Elementary for 4th and 5th graders, challenged the entire student body to donate food for upwards of 100 holiday meals for the homeless receiving services at the Long Beach Rescue Mission and via We CARE, a local non-profit organization focused providing families with the financial support they need to prevent them from becoming homeless. With the donation drive successfully completed, the Ambassadors loaded the Rescue Mission truck on Tuesday with the mountain of food collected.
This is the 7th year that the Weaver Ambassadors have sponsored the Big Red Bucket program, in addition to other important community programs.
