The running team of St. Hedwig School had fun participating in the Race on the Base 5K in Los Alamitos held Feb. 25.  The team currently consists of over 40 students from third grade through eighth grade.  Led by the School Principal Erin Rucker and many other parent volunteers, the runners trained twice a week, on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the school grounds.  The running club is a free after school program implemented very recently.  Teacher Annie Laines said, “the goal is to create an opportunity for the kids to be active, promote school involvement and to just have fun!”  After their first run as a team, they look forward to the upcoming races, which include Saints Run 5K in Long Beach and Seal Beach Run.  For information about the school’s all other programs, please visit their website at http://www.sthedwigk8.org/.
