Following the sumptuous high tea, which featured traditional favorites, President Nancy Hathcock spoke about the upcoming primary and how important it is to vote.
“The news media focuses on the presidential election. We need to focus on making a Republican impact in state and local elections. It is time we restore a balance of power to California,” said Hathcock.
Scholarship Chairwoman Stephanie Janji introduced the two scholarship recipients who read their essays regarding the importance of specific Constitutional Amendments. State Senator Janet Nguyen presented certificates honoring their achievements:
• Sydney Ahmed – Los Alamitos High School: $1,000 Scholarship
• Grace Yoon – Cypress High School – $500 Dorothy Sharp Memorial Scholarship
Also recognized for her years of community service with the Woman of Distinction Award was Alice Jempsa.
A founding member of the Rossmoor-Los Alamitos RWF club, Jempsa received a honorary lifetime membership in gratitude of her support to Republican ideals.
Immediate Past President Margene Walz facilitated the opportunity drawing of more than 100 items, which included table centerpieces donated by the hostesses.
“Every hostess decorated her table with a theme that culminated in an imaginative centerpiece. These were truly sought-after prizes,” commented Walz.
Everyone on the tea committee devoted a lot of time and effort to making the event a success.
Leading the list was Vice President of Ways and Means Susan Short.
Walz added, “The Rossmoor-Los Alamitos club is very fortunate to have Susan. She did an amazing job chairing the event!”
