Perhaps the most iconic and accessible of all Shakespeare classics is Romeo And Juliet. A play that begins with a light-hearted masquerade and descends into a turf war that ends badly. It’s a classic theme that even the Bard borrowed from earlier medieval folk tales that informs our world today. In July Shakespeare by the Sea brought their version of the love-crossed tale to Rush Park in Rossmoor along with the more light-hearted Much Ado About Nothing to delighted and devoted audiences sprawled out on the grass. Full rich productions in a casual and bucolic setting. Methinks Shakespeare would approve. Both productions are airing now on Los Al TV Channel 3, 7 p.m. weekdays and back to back on the weekends. These productions, captured by Los Al TV producer John Underwood and made possible with RCSD and RHA funds, are also available in HD online at losaltv.org and on demand via the OurLosAl streaming app on ROKU, Apple TV, Amazon Fire.
