The Rossmoor Homeowners Association (RHA) recently announced the winners of the 2014 High School Senior Scholarship Contest. The winners are Los Alamitos High School seniors Philip Paulson, Madisen Swallow and Austin Geller.

Philip, winner of the $3000 award, is the son of RHA members John and Jane Paulson, and plans to attend George Washington University next year. At LAHS, he has been active in the Interact Club and participated on the school’s Cross Country and Track teams. In January 2012, Philip achieved Eagle Scout status.

Madisen, winner of the $2000 award, is the daughter of RHA members Lance and Annaliza Swallow, and will be attending Cornell University this fall. At LAHS, Madisen was Freshmen Class President, active in Interact Club, and a member of the two-time National Champion Song and Cheer Squad. This past year, she has served as the Student Representative on both the Los Alamitos School District Board and the RHA Board.

Austin, winner of the $1000 award, is the son of RHA members Phil and Lynn Geller, and is making his choice between Stanford, Princeton, or Cornell Universities. At LAHS Austin has been involved in the Spanish Honor Society and the Long Beach Junior Rowing Crew. He was invited to try out for the U.S. Junior Olympic Rowing Team this year and is also an Eagle Scout.

“Philip, Madisen, and Austin exemplify the very best of what Los Alamitos High School is all about,” said LAHS Principal Dr. Joshua Arnold. “From their selflessness and regard for others, to their commitment to community and integrity in every action, these three young Griffins are more than deserving of every accolade and recognition that ever comes their way.”
