The Rossmoor Homeowners Association recently announced the winners of the High School Scholarship contest, Lexi Mossler, Andrew Woyshner, and Kristi Okino. All three are seniors at Los Alamitos High School.
The Rossmoor Homeowners Association recently announced the winners of the High School Scholarship contest, Lexi Mossler, Andrew Woyshner, and Kristi Okino. All three are seniors at Los Alamitos High School.
Winner of the $3000 scholarship was Lexi Mossler, daughter of RHA members Bob and Jayne Mossler. At LAHS, Lexi was on the Principal’s Honor Roll every semester with a 4.5 GPA. Additionally she competed on the LAHS girls soccer team where she was the captain and MVP. Other activities included being president of the Spanish Honor Society and member of the National Charity League. Lexi’s essay is also printed in the recent issue of the Rossmoor Signature News.
Andrew Woyshner, son of RHA members Rob and Sharon Woyshner, was the winner of the $2000 scholarship award. Andrew was a member of the championship LAHS show choir and on the principal’s honor roll every semester. Andrew has worked on various Eagle Scout projects and holds a black belt in Hapkido. Andrew’s essay encouraged RHA to promote music concerts in the parks.
Winner of the $1000 scholarship was Kristi Okino, daughter of RHA members Todd and Sunghie Okino. Kristi was also on the principal’s honor roll every semester with a 4.51 GPA. In athletics Kristi competed on the LAHS soccer team and as a member of the track and field team. She also was a member of the Spanish Honor Society. Kristi’s community service included volunteer service at the Katella Manor. Kristi’s essay encouraged the RHA to consider promoting programs for teens.
The RHA High School Scholarship contest for 2013 had 17 applicants for three prizes. The three winners were given a plaque acknowledging their accomplishment at the May RHA Board of Directors meeting and were presented with their checks at the LAHS Senior Recognition Night on May 22.
