The Cypress Area Chamber of Commerce recently gave an official welcome ceremony to its newest member Out of the Park Pizza, located at the corner or Valley View and Ball Road.

The Cypress Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Out of the Park Pizza on Thursday, March 12, to officially welcome in the new business establishment located at Ball Rd. and Valley View Street. This officially marked a new era within the community. The newly opened establishment is a homecoming for the family-owned business. The creative menu has a wide range of selections to fit everyone’s tastes.

Sports teams and families are welcome.

Although located in Buena Park, Out of the Park Pizza is directly across the street from Cypress. Already,Out of the Park Pizza has been heavily involved with the city. The first thing you see as you walk in Out of the Park Pizza is the expansive layout. This setup works well due to the collection of youth sports teams that are frequently present. During this time of year, there are baseball teams.

But soon enough, there will be youth football teams and AYSO soccer teams eating pizza and enjoying themselves.

Part of the fun is a well-developed game room for the kids and the kids-at-heart.

Besides the large, main dining area, there are two sections with booths and tables for those not associated with the teamsor for anyone who wants to sit elsewhere. These rooms also have a live-feed of the game room, so that parents can monitor their children if desired.

Out of the Park Pizza also gives back.

Twenty percent of the proceeds from purchases will go back to the sports teams. This money can be used for equipment, apparel or parties for the participating teams. It is recommended that teams register before their team parties, due to the high demand for space and to track total purchases.

“This is awesome,” said Cypress resident Gary Kushner. “There is something here for everyone.”

Indeed there is. The menu is diverse. There are your standard pizzas, but what stands out is the different style pizzas with matching creative names; pizzas with toppings and mixtures that are unconventional, but very popular. There is The Texan, The Duke, The Hot Mama, and the Chuck Norris. One has to see them and taste them to believe. They have gluten-free crust as well, if that is essential to your diet. Aside from the pizza menu, there are sandwiches, salads, appetizers, pasta, wings and desserts to dive into.

There is also a bar counter with a wide variety of craft beer behind it. 38 craft tap handles to be exact; 40 tap handles in total. This cannot go unnoticed or unmentioned. Wine is also available. Everyone’s taste is catered to.

“People like the creativity of the menu, with the different names and styles of the food. On top of that, the customer service is top notch and the family atmosphere is great,” said Mark Zoida, general manger for Out of the Park Pizza.

Out of the Park Pizza is run by Matt Smith and his son, Daniel Smith. The family was owner of the old, renowned Cypress Family Pizza. Many residents have fond memories of pizza parties and team gatherings at Cypress Family Pizza that lasted through the 90s, up until the year 2000.

After establishing an Out of the Park Pizza in Anaheim Hills and experiencing more success, the Smiths finally decided to come home.

The Smiths felt that they would be filling a need within the community. They know firsthand what a restaurant such as Out of the Park Pizza can offer kids and families.

“Let us help your teams and organizations with fundraisers,” said owner, Matt Smith. “Whether it is a team party or a private casino night, I want the community to know that we are here to help.”
