Los Al’s Ethan Bakker placed fourth in the Masters tournament where he led a field of three Sunset League wrestlers who qualified to advance to the state tourney in Bakersfield this weekend.
Bakker, ranked 14th in State, had three pins going in to the semi final match where he clashed with the number one seed, Joe Daniel of Santa Ana.
The two have been ranked first and second all season in Orange County and everyone expected a thriller. Bakker was leading 2-0 in the third, when Daniel got a reversal to tie it up and force overtime where he eventually went on to win both the match and the tournament.
This marks Los Al’s first trip back to State since the standout teams of 2011 and 2013.
