Asian.Train.Productions, otherwise known as ATP, is a local Youtube group on the rise. This group comprised of Los Alamitos High School freshmen Gabriel Bae and Miguel Ituralde from Cypress, Algernon Carillo and Michael Oh from Los Alamitos, and Nathaniel Groner from Seal Beach, are one day hoping to join the ranks of Youtube legends Ryan Higa, Wong Fu Productions, and Smosh.
ATP began about a year ago, when founder Gabriel Bae got the name from an inside joke with a friend (the original creator of ATP who left the group) while at a local carnival.
“I did some work with them back in December,” says Miguel, who worked on ATP with Gabriel and his partner while working on his own channel Cumcwatsinc, “these boys [Nathaniel, Michael, and Algernon] were later added to the mix.”
Although most of the group is new to the Youtube world, they have contributed greatly to the growth of Asian.Train.Productions. Due to Nathaniel and his father, the group is currently working on a 15 to 30 second anti-littering campaign video for a contest entitled, “Be the Street.”
“Whoever wins gets a $1,000 cash prize and a chance to be on TV,” said Algernon.
While Nathaniel contributes his brains to the group (and fearfulness as shown in their “Slender Reaction Video”), Algernon and Miguel contribute their extroverted personalities, Gabriel contributes his creativity and Michael gives people a laugh with his dry humor. It is these qualities that make ATP the comedic powerhouse that they will grow to be.
Despite their low budget, Miguel states that the best thing about this group is that they all have fun making their videos and it is not a very serious environment.
“I like the guys equally. They are my closest friends. Working with them feels like a dream job sometimes.” said Gabriel, who adds that his ultimate goal is to get Asian.Train.Productions to the top of the Youtube world.
