One hundred people were invited to come to Cypress Senior Center on Saturday, March 15, to celebrate the 77th birthday of La Palma resident, Louise Tiznado, hosted by her husband, Claudio Tiznado and their daughter, Claudina Tiznado.
Louise’s family, friends from Da’ Hawaii Seniors Club, and some of her classmates from Susan McCormick’s ukulele and guitar classes were among the invited guests.
Guests were treated to a delicious dinner catered by Rosewood Family Restaurant in Norwalk and a Spanish Flamenco Dance show featuring her daughter, Claudina, and four of Claudina’s friends. The five dancers were gorgeously dressed in colorful ruffled dresses and danced many different Flamenco style Spanish dances using fans, castanets, and shawls and fancy footwork. They danced individual solos and also danced together as a group in tribute to Louise on her birthday.
The five dancers asked everyone to sing “Happy Birthday” to Louise. The day ended with everyone sharing Louise’s vanilla or chocolate frosted birthday cakes and wishing her many more happy birthdays.
“Louise is like a cat with nine lives!” said Louise’s husband, Claudio. Louise has been a dialysis patient for seven years and has had a number of health issues in 2012 and 2013. She suffered a detached retina, a broken hip in 2012, and a fractured pelvis in 2013. She is still recovering from the fractured pelvis and is in a wheelchair.
However, she said that her goal is to be able to walk to her ukulele and guitar classes by September. She has always had a positive attitude toward everything in her life and has inspired people with her fighting spirit to live as well as she can.
