The Joint Forces Training Base Los Alamitos announced its 2017 public base tour program on Jan. 6.
Dates include Feb. 16, May 18, Aug. 17 and Nov. 16. Tours are scheduled on Thursday afternoons and get underway at 1 p.m. from the Military and Veterans Resource Center (Building 244) located just inside the JFTB main gate on Lexington Drive. Those taking the tour should plan for approximately three hours.
The fully-guided bus tour includes an introduction and historical overview of the base – highlighting its current state and federal missions. Highlights include visits to the California Army National Guard’s 40th Infantry Division Headquarters, Los Alamitos Army Airfield Base Operations, an up-close look at a California Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, and — if available — a unique opportunity to personally experience the Engagement Skills Trainer (EST 2000).
Reservations for the February tour are now being accepted and may be made by sending an email to the JFTB Public Affairs Officer – richard.w.lalor2.vol@mail.mil. Due to JFTB force protection requirements, emails must include the full name, address (including zip code), California driver’s license number and phone number for every member of your group.
Please note that space is very limited and all tour participants must be pre-registered.
There is no charge for the tour, but all persons requesting base entry must show current photo identification to the guard at the main gate.
