I hadn’t driven down Cerritos Avenue in the Cypress area in quite a while, so I was quite impressed when I received a press release on the dedication for the new Orange County Fire Authority Station 17 in Cypress.
The picture above shows the new station and for those who remember the old station, it is a night and day difference. The previous station was dated to say the least and this new modern station will bring a new level of fire preparedness to the local area.
The new fire station building houses a 3-person fire engine, 4-person truck company, and a 2-person paramedic van around the clock. As an essential community facility, the fire station was designed and constructed to a 50-year life standard, and the station has its own back-up power generator in case of emergency.
Fire Station #17 provides the emergency response capability needed to serve the City of Cypress and neighboring OCFA member communities. The paramedic unit, engine company and truck company, will provide enhanced emergency medical capability and will add depth of service within the city, according to the city release.
The OCFA will officially dedicate the new station on April 28, at 10 a.m., and the community is invited to attend. The station is located at 4991 Cerritos Avenue, at Moody Street. The fire station will be dedicated by City of Cypress, and OCFA officials.
SeaCoast Grace Church offered their gracious assistance by allowing dedication guests to park in their parking lot during the event. The parking lot is across the street from Fire Station #17 on Cerritos Avenue. Police Department personnel will be on hand to direct guests to the parking lot.
