Boys & Girls Club of Cypress hosted their second annual volunteer awards celebration and recognition recently.
More than 50 volunteers were recognized at the event for their outstanding service and dedication to helping children succeed in school and in life. All current volunteers were recognized, and 16 received special certificates for one or more years of continuous service at the Club.
Nineteen volunteers also received the President’s Volunteer Service Award, a prestigious honor recognizing those who have contributed 100 or more hours in a calendar year. The Award is available on an annual basis to individuals, groups and families who have met or exceeded requirements for volunteer service and have demonstrated exemplary citizenship through volunteering.
The volunteer program at the Club has experienced dramatic growth over the past three years, and more than 150 volunteers donated over 7,000 hours of service in 2011 alone. Volunteers have a number of opportunities available to them, including helping children with homework, assisting with outside games and activities, teaching classes, and providing administrative assistance.
