Los Alamitos Police reported the arrest of a Long Beach man for attempted murder, after a bar fight early Wednesday morning at a nightclub in Los Alamitos.
Eddie Dean McIntyre, 39, of Long Beach, was arrested by Los Alamitos Police Officers for assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing a male victim inside the nightclub located in the 5000 block of Katella Avenue. He also attempted to assault a second victim in the parking lot of the establishment immediately following the first attack. The victims were identified as brothers. The initial crime took place after the suspect allegedly engaged the victims in a verbal altercation stemming from an undetermined misunderstanding. The brother of the primary victim attempted to confront McIntyre outside of the bar, but stopped when the suspect allegedly attempted to slash him with the weapon. McIntyre immediately fled the nightclub in a grey SAAB sedan west on Katella Avenue after the altercation. Witnesses described McIntyre as a male African-American, wearing a striped shirt and blue jeans, and a blue fedora style hat.
A Los Alamitos Police Officer observed the suspect vehicle traveling west on Katella Avenue approaching the intersection of Bloomfield, and with the assistance of additional officers a high-risk enforcement stop was initiated. McIntyre was detained without incident, and witnesses at the crime scene positively identified McIntyre as the suspect. He was subsequently arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and, after being treated for a laceration to his hand, was held at the Los Alamitos Police Department prior to being booked at the Orange County Jail.
Officers were initially called to the nightclub at 12:22 a.m. for a bar fight involving several patrons. When officers arrived, they determined one victim had been stabbed inside the bar and another victim was assaulted outside while trying to confront the suspect. The primary victim was treated at the scene by the Orange County Fire Authority and was transported to UCI Medical Center for wounds sustained to his torso. He was later released. The second victim was not hurt during the incident. The suspect was treated at the Los Alamitos Medical Center. The weapon remains unidentified. The investigation is ongoing and police detectives are seeking additional witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Los Alamitos Police Department at 562-431-2255, extension 426.
