State Board of Equalization Vice Chair Michelle Steel visited with Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Prakash Narain last week.
Vice Chair Steel reached out to the City of Cypress to hear of any service needs of the city and the business community. She learned of the city’s Business Retention, Attraction, Creation & Expansion (BRACE), Assist, Grow, Educate, Network & Thrive (AGENT), and Sole Proprietorship – Identify, Realize, Inspire, & Transform (SPIRIT) business outreach programs, and indicated her support of the city’s services to its business leaders.
Vice Chair Steel took immediate action in her commitment to the City of Cypress and has already partnered with the city to conduct a Small Business Tax Seminar, scheduled for Friday, September 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Cypress Community Center, 5700 Orange Ave.
The seminar is designed as a one-stop-shop for local businesses to get free assistance from the local, state, and federal agencies, including the State Board of Equalization, Franchise Tax Board, Internal Revenue Service, State Attorney General’s Office, Employment Development Department (EDD), Small Business Administration (SBA), and Service Corporation of Retired Executives (SCORE).
The seminar is free to all attendees and is of great value and usefulness to businesses seeking information about applying for an SBA Loan, writing a business plan, marketing in the social media arena, sales and use tax, state income tax reporting, employment taxes, and permit requirements.
