The Cypress School District Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Michelle Watkins and Mrs. Megan Parsons to the district’s Educational Services leadership team.
In a statement released this week, the district announced that Ms. Michelle Watkins has joined the Cypress School District leadership team as the new Administrative Director of Educational Services after holding a variety of roles from classroom teacher to Chief Academic Officer at Westminster School District.
Watkins has more than two decades of experience overseeing a wide range of district functions from curriculum and instruction to student services and human resources. Further, she has a proven track record of improving student achievement, building innovative programs, and supporting principals and staff. Ms. Watkins is also a Cypress resident and is excited to contribute in a new way to her local community.
In addition, the Cypress School District announced that Mrs. Megan Parsons is assuming a new role with Cypress this year as she becomes the Coordinator of Curriculum and Instruction.
Parsons transitioned to this position after serving as a Teacher on Special Assignment overseeing the district’s Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) for the last three years.
Parsons began her career as a classroom teacher in the district and also played a vital role as Interim Principal at Landell at the start of this school year. She is a versatile team player who has a unique understanding of the district’s mission, values, and commitment to student achievement.
In her new position, Megan will continue oversight of the ELO-P program and will be taking on additional responsibilities including support of curricular adoptions, assessment, and professional development.
“We are excited to welcome both of these new leaders,” said Board President Dr. Lydia Sondhi. “Both Michelle and Megan will bring new energy, ideas, and perspective to their new roles, and we know that will translate to increased support for our staff and academic performance for students.”
Both administrators began their new leadership roles on Monday, September 14.
