Sights set on Sunset

With over 500 miles of summer training under their belts, Los Al’s Cross Country squads have one thing on their minds: the Sunset League title.
The title was within the reach of the girls squad last season before missing out on it by just a point.
Coach Mark Celestin said the team is focused and “shooting for the league title this year.
“Our girls team is top notch,” said Celestin.

The boys team is also ready to go says Celestin. They just came off an impressive time trial last Monday, which Celestin says was a good indicator of the team’s form.
“Our boy’s team is vastly improved and older,” said Celestin. “We graduated no one last year so we are in good shape and ready for league.”
Having a full team of returning runners on the boys squad means the squad will be experienced when it comes down to crucial moments.
The first race of the season is coming up for the Griffins on Sept. 3 when they run in the Cow Invite at Cerritos. Then just a few weeks later on Sept 21, the team participates in the Sunset League prelims.
