New Pacific Soccer Club teams scoop up OC tourney titles

Soccer season is almost here, and local AYSO Los Alamitos girl’s teams from Pacific Soccer Club (PSC) are already off to a fantastic start.
Last weekend, two new PSC girl’s teams made it to the final round and took their respective championships at the 13th annual Orange County Kickoff Classic (OCKC).  More than 600 teams from across the Western United States participate in the OCKC, making it one of the largest youth soccer tournaments in the US.

PSC Los Alamitos Girls 2003, a newly formed team coached by Andrew Cantrell, went undefeated in their bracket giving up only two goals in four games.  The girls went on to defeat LA-based England FC in the finals 3 to 1.
PSC Los Alamitos Girls 2004 had similar success. The team coached by John Gee defeated England FC in the final in penalty kicks. This was their first tournament they competed in as a newly formed club team.
Both teams have advanced into competitive soccer through AYSO’s player development program, starting as “Extra” teams and now competing in club soccer.  AYSO Extra is the first step for introducing players to the world of competitive soccer.
“We are extremely proud of the success of our PSC teams last week, which is one of the fastest growing competitive soccer programs in our community,” said Randall Ely, Regional Commissioner of AYSO Region 159 Los Alamitos.  “We are focused on the importance of player development and strive to offer youth players programs from recreational to competitive soccer at all age levels.”
AYSO 159 is a 100 percent volunteer organization and is one of the largest soccer groups in our community, with more than 1,500 players registered for Fall soccer from ages U5 to U19. PSC offers certified trainers, competitive fees compared to local clubs and plays in the competitive Coast Soccer League.  For more information about PSC, go to www.pacificsc.org and for more information about AYSO 159 go to www.ayso159.org.
