Chanukah comes early this year for many Jewish residents. The annual outdoor menorah event in Seal Beach will be held on Sunday Nov 21st, one week before Chanukah, which starts on Nov. 28th. Hundreds are expected to attend the event that will feature a free outdoor concert and lighting of the 9-foot menorah.

“We need the light of Chanukah this year more than ever before.” Says Rabbi Shmuel Marcus, director of Chabad. “The menorah spreads the radiance of light, joy, and healing, as it publicly proclaims Chanukah’s timeless message of light’s victory over darkness.”
For over a decade, the Menorah at Seal Beach brings the warmth and spirit of Chanukah to the young and old of our community. This year’s live musical performance will include Los Al’s Xtreme choir and LA’s popular DJ EZZI.

Chanukah is the Jewish eight-day, “festival of lights,” that is celebrated with menorah lightings, special prayers and fried foods. The community will be treated to the traditional Chanukah oil-fried donuts, as they serve as a reminder of the miracle that happened with oil.

The event is free and open to the public and paid for by Chabad (a local Jewish non-profit) and local sponsors. The event is held annually on the Sunday before Chanukah and this year it will be held on Sunday Nov. 21st at 5pm.
