Hard work and superior effort spur local girls 10-and-under softball team to nationals

LANCASTER — The 10-and-under girls softball team from East County ASA has qualified for the national championships, to be held in Spokane, Wash.

LANCASTER — The 10-and-under girls softball team from East County ASA has qualified for the national championships, to be held in Spokane, Wash.

East County advanced to the elite field following a strong finish at the state championships, gaining a sixth-place finish after defeating several elite programs, including Rialto, Fullerton Hills and Fillmore, before eventually falling to state power Cypress, 9-5.
The ballclub now advances to the American Softball Association ‘B’ Nationals, to be played at historic Dwight Merkel Softball Complex, from July 30 to Aug. 5.

The East County team, which is attempting to raise money for the trip to the Pacific Northwest, consists of: Maggie Carpenter, Adriana Cruz, Jade Hill, Hailey Johnson, Gianna Paape, Samaria Roope, Audrey Shebloski and Jessica Venzor, plus pitchers Alexa “LuLu” Williams and Katelyn Siekerka..

The manager is Ted Williamss. The coaches are Shaun Seipp, Brent Hill, Jack Siekerka.
