The Los Alamitos girls lacrosse team will play for its sixth consecutive Orange County Championship when they take on Beckman High today at 5:30 p.m. at Aliso Niguel High.

The Griffins are in somewhat unfamiliar territory after winning five consecutive titles, as they are the No. 2 ranked team behind Beckman. But the Griffins might be returning to form just in time after handing No. 4 Corona del Mar a lopsided 16-9 defeat in the U.S. Lacrosse Southern Section South Division semifinals on Saturday.

The Griffins (13-6) were led by senior Grace Schmidt-Beck with five goals, while Caitlin Derry and Jenny Lange each added three.

The Griffins defeated Beckman in the county division finals last season. But the Patriots handed the Griffins a 15-13 loss earlier this year.

Beckman (15-2) reached the championship game by handing previously undefeated and No. 1 ranked Capistrano Valley a 13-11 loss in the other semifinal.
