Woman’s club honors Boys & Girls Club director

The Woman’s Club of Cypress recently made a special presentation at the Boys and Girls Club of Cypress. Thanking executive director Anne Hertz for the Boys and Girls Club’s participation in the Woman’s Club’s annual winter UNICEF fundraising drive, club president Stacy Berry and international outreach chairman Veena Narain presented her with a Certificate of Appreciation.

The Woman’s Club of Cypress collects donations for UNICEF all year, with their strongest fundraising efforts taking place October through December. With 24 members plus 60 children from the Boys and Girls Club collecting donations, the Woman’s Club raised an astounding $1,122 for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF in 2011.

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) uses donations to provide clean water, nutrition, medicine, education, and emergency aid to children in over 150 countries. Narain expressed her hopes to have even more children from our community get involved in the fundraiser this year.

“UNICEF provides a way to help other children get some of the basic necessities that we take for granted,” Narain said.
