Wake up and smell the diesel

Dear Editor,

Dear Editor,

This is about the 33-acre proposed project that Prologis is proposing in Cypress. I wish to inform people reading this that once upon a time I lived in Carson, CA. I saw the refineries and distribution centers just a few miles from my home. Not a pretty smelling city and between that and the truck traffic—my father said we had to get out and so we did in 1985 because he couldn’t breathe well.

My purpose here is for everyone to be informed. After research on my own, I am convinced that Prologis is a conglomerate that is trying to convince the residents in Cypress and surrounding communities that it cares about employing us, cares about the environment by working close with the EPA to approve its building plans for its site in Los Alamitos that is at Enterprise and Katella Avenue.

That location is close to the hospital, close to schools as you already know, but what you don’t know is that Prologis is much bolder than anyone thought. They will bring business in here that is not friendly to residents. Prologis also claims that it’s a distribution center, not a truck depot—but in fact they are not informing you of fine detail in that statement. A distribution center houses a lot of containers that 18-wheel trucks bring because they have to in order to distribute the cargo. This is a matter of knowing what logistics and distribution means. I just happen to know about it because I work in transportation. I stand with people that care about what really matters, and that is the quality of life as we know now. Don’t pacify me or anyone around here with your true lies. Prologis needs to wake up and smell the diesel, as one of my colleagues has so finely put. For that matter—everyone reading this should do so as well.
