The City of Cypress’ AGENT Program and the Small Business Administration (SBA) held an exciting and informative workshop on “How to Start a Home-Based Business” recently at the Cypress Community Center. The next AGENT Program and SBA co-sponsored workshop will take place in June.
Guest speakers for the March workshop were Economic Development Specialist, SBA, Paul Smith, SCORE Mentor, Jim Roberts, Director of Micro Lending, Valley Economic Development Corporation, Brandon Napoli and City of Cypress Redevelopment Project Manager, Steve Clarke.
Aspiring entrepreneurs and current small business owners learned about procedural issues such as business licensing requirements, resale permit requirements, and insurance needs. They also evaluated what kind of business to start, what does the aspiring entrepreneur or business owner have in business experience and what it will it cost to grow the business as well as what are sources for funding.
