Los Alamitos High’s Alex Redmond was the second place wrestler at last weekend’s State Championship in Bakersfield. Redmond reached the finals with a pin in his semifinal match, but was pinned by Clovis High’s Nick Nevillis, the state’s top ranked wrestler in the heavyweight division. Redmond was 41-2 on the season. Nevillis finished the season at 50-0. Also placing in the state championship was Los Alamitos’ Mason Kumashiro, who finished seventh in the 195 lbs. division.
