The Mobile Job Store of the “Hero 2 Hired” program made a two-day stop at the Joint Forces Training Base recently and assisted soldiers in their search for a job.

The mobile unit is part of the The Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs’ Department and it travels all around the continental United States on a year-round basis to assist soldiers get back into the work force.

The trailer is equipped with computers for job searches, and the program offers help to soldiers on all aspects of preparing for job application and interviews. The system draws job listings from all the major job search sights, such as Monster, and provides a kind of one-stop shopping center.

But Executive Director of the California branch of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Patrick Kuykendall said the mobile store does not provide a magic wand effect of getting jobs. It is simply a place to jump start a search.

“It’s a tool that has to be combined with other tools to get the job done,” Kuykendall said.

The H2H Mobile Job Store vehicle allows Guard and Reserve attendees to search for available jobs through the H2H jobs website, specifically designed to connect Guardsmen and Reservists with military-friendly civilian employers that have made a commitment to hire veterans. The H2H Mobile Job Store also provides service members assistance with resume building and translating their military skills to civilian job qualifications.

The Mobile Job Store is traveling across the country and was scheduled to make a total of 15 stops throughout California through September.
