The Los Alamitos High boys tennis team opened up Sunset League play with a 12-6 win over Marina on Friday at Los Alamitos High.

The Los Alamitos High boys tennis team opened up Sunset League play with a 12-6 win over Marina on Friday at Los Alamitos High.

The Griffins were led by No. 1 singles player Camden Marco who swept all three of his matches. The Griffins top two doubles teams also swept their three matches. The No. 1 team of Jared Hong and Kyle McCann had three wins, while the No. 2 team of Vatsal Bajpai and Brian Bales also swept three matches. The two doubles teams only dropped two games in the match.

“It was a team victory in every way,” Head Coach Mike Moorewood said.

The Griffins started the season 4-0, including a win over powerhouse Harvard Westlake. That catapulted the Griffins to the No. 3 ranking in the CIF-SS, but they had losses to No. 1 University and No. 2 Corona del Mar.

The Griffins hosted Edison on Tuesday and will host Fountain Valley on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Seal Beach Tennis Center.
