Los Alamitos High School senior, Haley Broder, received one of 10, $5,000 scholarships from the Disneyland Resort for outstanding community service, academic excellence, and overall leadership.

“We are thrilled to recognize the continued success of these 10 outstanding Orange County students,” said Disneyland Resort President George A. Kalogridis. “These young men and women, who together volunteered nearly 5,000 hours last year, exemplify and share Disney’s passion for community service.”

Haley was surprised at her school by a “prize patrol,” led by the Disneyland Ambassador. She has completed thousands of service hours with the Aquarium of the Pacific, AYSO VIP Soccer, Cypress VIP Basketball, the B’nai B’rith Youth Organization, Impact: DC, and many other organizations. Haley says, “I was raised in a family where giving back was a responsibility, our little way of positively impacting the world.” “Volunteering feels good,” she said. Haley will be attending UC Berkeley next fall, majoring in Political Science and Spanish.
