The Los Alamitos High football team delivered an impressive all-around performance in the first round of the CIF Southwest Division playoffs. It defeated Foothill with a 42-0 victory on Friday, Nov. 15 to advance to the next round.
The Los Alamitos High football team delivered an impressive all-around performance in the first round of the CIF Southwest Division playoffs. It defeated Foothill with a 42-0 victory on Friday, Nov. 15 to advance to the next round.
The Griffins will now face Fullerton High on Friday, Nov. 22. That contest will take place at Veterans Stadium at 7 p.m.
Quarterback Nick Wendell completed 12 of 19 passes for 275 yards, which included three touchdowns. Additionally, running back Kendall Brownlow and Mike Hayden both had one rushing touchdown each. Brownlow also caught four passes for 127 yards and Dashawn Gordon snagged five for 77 yards.
The Griffins improved to 9-2 overall with the win. They grabbed a 21-0 advantage in the first quarter. Though neither side scored in the second quarter, the Griffins put the game out of reach with 21 more points in the third quarter.
Defensively, Blake Johnson and William Wallace both earned a sack.
