Los Alamitos High School (LAHS) has once again made history by achieving a 100% graduation rate for the second year in a row. This extraordinary accomplishment is a testament to the well-orchestrated, layered systems of support cultivated across various stages of education within the Los Alamitos Unified School District.

From preschool through elementary and middle school, and extending into high school, the district has implemented a range of innovative programs designed to support students at every step of their academic journey. These initiatives include student mentor programs, an intervention skills lab, elementary reading labs, Griffin Lab, real-time remediation for high school students, district-wide tutoring programs, social-emotional, and mental health supports, and more.

“Our success is a direct result of the unwavering dedication of our teachers, staff, students, and families,” said Mrs. Christiana Kraus, Principal of Los Alamitos High School. “What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that we have accomplished it without the support of a continuation high school. In other words, we do not send our students to another school when they are not meeting graduation requirements.

Dr. Andrew Pulver, Los Alamitos Unified School District Superintendent, echoed these sentiments, adding, “This outstanding achievement opens doors and opportunities for all students. It is a testament to the dedication of our unified collaboration and teamwork from across the entire Los Alamitos Unified community, all centered around the success of each student. I often say that our schools must work for ALL students, not just some. This achievement is a perfect example of our collective commitment to ensuring that every student succeeds.”

“Our students’ success is evidence of the well-orchestrated, layered systems of support cultivated across all stages of their educational journey by our extraordinary team and our strong partnerships with families,” the superintendent said.

“I often say that our schools must work for ALL students, not just some. This achievement is a perfect example of our commitment to ensuring that every student succeeds. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that we have accomplished it without the support of a continuation high school. In other words, we do not send our students to another school when they are not meeting graduation requirements,” said Pulver.

“Our collective ability to provide comprehensive, personalized support to all students speaks volumes about the dedication, commitment, and hard work of everyone in our district,” he added.

“This achievement reflects the unity and synergy that exists within our Los Al USD community. From our dedicated preschool staff who lay the foundational blocks of learning, to the elementary and middle school educators who nurture and guide our students through critical developmental stages, to the high school faculty and support staff who ensure every student crosses the finish line, and to YOU our families and community members who offer your generous and unwavering support – this achievement would not be possible without all of you,” said Pulver in a newsletter to parents.

This historic achievement underscores the District’s commitment to providing a high-quality education and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed and thrive. The District’s priority goals of honoring each student’s individual educational journey and embracing unlimited possibilities for their futures are integral to this success. We believe in fostering an environment where every student’s unique path is recognized and supported, empowering them to explore their unique interests and achieve their fullest potential.

It is with immense pride and joy that we celebrate another momentous milestone: for the second consecutive year, Los Alamitos High School has achieved a 100% graduation rate! This rare accomplishment, only the second time in our District’s history, is truly extraordinary as it opens doors and opportunities for ALL students. It reflects not only the dedication of our high school staff but also the unified collaboration and teamwork of our entire district, all centered around the success of our students.
Many congratulations to the Los Alamitos High School graduating Class of 2024.
