The annual Leaders of Tomorrow Salute that honors local high school seniors is currently on display in a traveling exhibit making its way around north Orange County.

In all, 44 Orange County high schools are invited to nominate two students from the class of 2013 to represent the best their school has to offer for current and future leaders. The schools are asked to choose students who exemplify the following leadership qualities: positive role models for their peers, good academic achievement, community service, and leadership positions on campus, including Primala Parmar of Oxford Academy in Cypress.

“It’s not necessarily the person with the highest GPA, or someone on the football team or cheerleading squad,” said Donna Reinbold, who owns Reinbold Gallery, which founded the display and photographs each of the students for it. “Sometimes, though, the leaders are members of a sports team or a cheerleader.”

The selected students are all interviewed at the Reinbold Gallery. Areas of personal interest, future goals, and lifestyle are discussed, as well as their resume of honors, activities, and achievements. A theme or “look” for the student’s photo shoot is decided, and scheduled.

The completed photographs show a varied and interesting group of diverse teens. The 16×20 portraits and an accompanying ID tag listing student’s name, school, and list of accomplishments are displayed in a traveling exhibit that opened at the Brea Mall on Aug. 31. It’s currently at the Buena Park Library District, where it will remain until Jan. 2, 2013.

It will then make stops at the Anaheim Central Library, the Anaheim Haskett Library, the Anaheim Canyon Hills Library, and the Anaheim Union High School District Office.

The entire group of 2013 Leaders portraits are also viewable online at the Reinbold Gallery website at www.reinboldgallery.com

Schools wishing to participate in next year’s “Salute,” who are not represented should contact the Reinbold Gallery at 714-535-5644.
