Cypress singer-songwriter Jackson Wargo performed original songs at the live music venue Witzend in Venice, California on January 12. Jackson, a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston was home for his winter break. His first rate 10-piece band was made up of several local musicians including sax player Aaron Blumenthal of Los Alamitos, drummer Jake Rodriguez of Cypress, brother Daniel Wargo on vocals and percussion as well as other Berklee students from Southern California.
Jackson led the ensemble on acoustic guitar and lead vocals singing songs from his upcoming album including Pelican Hill, Visions of New York, and Fine Tooth Comb. His style is reminiscent of Paul Simon with its thoughtful poetry, but blending with his amazing brass section. Jackson has created a unique sound of his own.
