βI am incredibly proud of the members of SoundFX and Soundtrax. The outstanding performances this past weekend were amazing,β said Director David Moellenkamp. βIt was such an exciting opportunity for these wonderful kids to be able to compete in Chicago. Thank you to all the parents and staff for all of the hard work that was put in to make this year such a success.β
There is plenty to be proud of from this past whirlwind weekend.
Soundtrax competed against 10 other single gender choirs and SoundFX competed against 18 other mixed choirs from throughout the nation in a day that started at 7 a.m. and ended after midnight.
It was truly a Southern California sweep as both Los Alamitos choirs placed only behind choirs from John Burroughs High School in both divisions.
The groups also earned other notable honors as well. Soundtrax won Best Show Design and Tailynn Carlton was named Best Female Soloist while SoundFX won Best Repertoire, Best Show Design and Best Vocals.
The entourage of 150-plus performers and support staff return home this week and will start prepping for their final shows of the season on May 30-June 1 when they take the stage for the Pops Show in the Margaret Webb Performing Arts Center.
