Kennedy running back T.J. Williams set a new school record for the most yards gained in a single game, posting 304 yards during a 27-14 victory against Western in Empire League action on Friday, Oct. 18.

Williams actually owned the record he broke, which he set a couple of weeks ago with a 278-yard performance against Pacifica.

The Irish (4-3, 2-4) took an early lead in the first quarter. Williams, who would score three touchdowns, dashed into the paint for a 36-yard score on the opening play of the game. He then added a 75-yard touchdown to take a 14-0 lead.

However, the Pioneers (3-5, 1-3) came roaring from behind, scoring 17-unanswered points to take a 17-14 lead. Quarterback Joe Burris scored a 1-yard keeper to start the second quarter.  Western’s Alex Ojelabi, who ran 16 times for 105 yards, also ran a 45-yard score during that streak.

The Irish came roaring back, though. Quarterback Adrian Quezada threw a 19-yard touchdown pass in the fourth to regain the lead. Also, Williams added an 18-yard score in the fourth.

Kennedy plays at Yorba Linda High at 7 p.m. on Friday.
