Luther Elementary School 4th graders in La Palma recently raised $181.36 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The students were inspired by the article, “Dollars and Sense,” from the McGraw-Hill textbook about businesses about helping other people. This illustrated how TOMS: Shoes for Tomorrow Corporation provides shoes for children in Argentina. A generous spirit arose during a class discussion, and the decision to raise money for the Make-A-Wish program was settled. The organization grants wishes for children with life threatening diseases. During this two-week project, the students gave public announcements, advertised, collected money and granted stars to the donors. It was an experience in which the students felt like stars.
