Fun, excitement at Rossmoor Festival

Rush Park was a hub of activity on May 6, as the annual Rossmoor Community Festival returned to the community. Hundreds of people flocked to the park to enjoy the affordable family-friendly event. The excitement kicked off with a truly impressive helicopter landing by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. The Sheriff’s Department also provided an actual Orange County Harbor Patrol boat and K-9 team for families to enjoy. Parents and children lined up for some amazing photo opportunities aboard these awe-inspiring displays.

Next, was the First Annual We Care High Heel Dash. Men and women ran in two-inch high heels down Chianti Road in Rossmoor, all for a good cause of course. Many participants wore entertaining costumes, which made for a colorful and entertaining race. Congratulations to the winners who were each awarded a miniature high heel trophy.

The car show was bigger and better than ever and the dog parade had the community howling for more. A live band and magician commanded the stage and amused the crowd. Pony rides, a trackless train and a huge obstacle course bouncer were just a few of the rides popular with the kids. Twice as many vendors joined the event this year with their outstanding resources, food, and wares.

Booths ranged from our very own RCSD booth, the Rossmoor Homeowner’s Association, Rossmoor Women’s Club, Alert OC, Emergency Preparedness, Los Alamitos Medical Center, Stanley Pest Control, martial arts demonstrations and women’s self defense, voting registration booths, local real estate agents, artists, photographers, jewelers and crafters, to name a few.

This year’s Title Sponsor was Dr. Avani Patel with Alamitos Eye Care. For more information on participating vendors, or a review of the fun, look for the festival’s photo album, on the District website at www.rossmoor-csd.org.
