Annual Autumn Art Exhibition

The Cypress Art League will open its 2018 Autumn Art Exhibition, on Sept. 16, at the Cypress Community Center at 5700 Orange Ave in Cypress.

The exhibit usually draws well over 200 pieces of stellar work. Works include paintings, photography, digital art and 3-dimensional pieces. Beyond the Sylvia Lippe Best of Show from the Event News Enterprise and Judge’s Award, 1st, 2nd and 3rd in various divisions, they have several of special awards.

Again The OC Breeze will be sponsoring a $175 award for the Best depiction of Orange County encompassing contemporary to historical in all categories. The show will run from Sept. 16 through Oct. 15

  • 15 – Take-in for the show from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • 16 – The Show opens to the public starting at noon until 4 p.m.

On Sept. 16, The Art League will have its general meeting, starting at 2 p.m. with a watercolor demonstration by Joseph Stoddard. This meeting will also involve our awards ceremony for the winners. The winners will be on display in the Art Gallery on the premise from Sept. 16 thru Oct. 15.

Haunted High Mazes Returns for Sixth Annual Scare Event

The Haunted Maze returns to Holy Cross Lutheran Church on October 19, 20, 26, 27, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. This scary and fun event is perfect for all ages. The maze features the Toxic Tunnel, Menacing Circus, Mad Scientist Lab, and other spooky spots that promise to make you scream.

The Boy Scouts of Troop 657 participate in the design, building, and scare nights. Scouts use these service hours towards merit badges and rank advancements.

The haunted maze is designed for all ages. There is even a “no scare” option available for the scaredy-cat in the bunch. During the “no scare” option, the participant is given a light stick and the scarers become part of the background.

Holy Cross Lutheran Church is located at 4321 Cerritos Ave in Cypress. A $5 donation is suggested.
