The City of Cypress Recreation and Community Services held its annual Winter Youth Basketball League Championships on Friday March 1, at Lexington Jr. High School.
The City of Cypress Recreation and Community Services held its annual Winter Youth Basketball League Championships on Friday March 1, at Lexington Jr. High School.
For the C Division, ages 7-9, the Tigers coached by Cynthia Trostler and assistant coach Jose Hernandez were the champions for the season. Players for the Tigers are Alex Abraham, Amanda Nguyen, Dillon Galipeau, Elijah Acosta, Evan Liu, Hadi Essayli, Jacob Sanders, Nick Sonsma Hernandez, and Omkar Katre.
Robert Navarrete and assistant coach Javier Soto coached the B Division championship Lakers, ages 10-11. Players for the Lakers are Aadit Desai, Alex Do, Anthony Chung, Brian Sample, Christian Navarrete, James Min, Kaitlyn Soto, Kanu Grover, and Michael Santos.
For the A Division, ages 12-14, the Lakers coached by Robert Navarrete and assistant coach George Perez were the champions for the season. Players for the Lakers include Andres Haro, Christopher Raes, Connor McWain, Daniel Park, Elias Zoreikat, Eric Chung, Jorge Perez, Ricardo Casillas, Robert Navarrete, and Sukoon Saxena.
League champions continued play when they competed in the Orange County SCMAF Tournament on March 15-16 hosted by cities of Garden Grove, Fountain Valley and Santa Ana.
